Our Story
Nena’s Sanctuary reflects a deep and intuitive respect for the natural world.
The place is inspired by the shared passions of Rico Tantoco Jr. and Nena Tantoco, whose family has called the estate home for decades. Nena is a creative who loves and understands flowers; Rico, a naturalist well-versed in the biology of trees and their habitats.
Every detail at Nena’s Sanctuary blooms from this relationship with the land — landscapes that are discovered rather than curated, structures that stand in harmony with its background, and materials that are local, natural, and meaningful.
The Larger Landscape
Nena’s Sanctuary is part of the living heritage of Sta. Elena Golf and Country Estate, envisioned in 1988 as a peaceful retreat where nature and community could coexist.
Today, Sta. Elena is internationally recognized — Audubon-certified and home to pocket forests, tranquil lagoons, and thriving birdlife. It stands as a rare environment where people and the natural world continue to flourish together, guided by long-standing principles of care and stewardship.
Sta. Elena also offers diverse experiences for families, as in the beloved Fun Farm — a play area for children to connect with flora and fauna.
Continuing the legacy
Now under the stewardship of founders Donnie and Crickette Tantoco, Nena’s Sanctuary is cared for with the same philosophy that shaped its beginnings. As always and in the years to come, we invite guests to enjoy our space to make memories, celebrate moments, and delight in the natural world.
